MC Shystie

How long have you been MCing? Since i was 17 years old, but i properly got kicked off january 2001.

How did you get started? I started off by hanging around with alot of male emcees and i was like 'Rarr, listen i wana start MCing' so they taught me the basics. From there i just worked on it really hard and started to think more about my lyric content, how am i going to be different to every other emcees out here and also my flow. Then i started mcing on my voicemail and on some of my friends, my name started to spread a lil, then my confidence started building up and i use to phone up for live air competitions. I then got invited to radio stations and got bookings for raves and it all started there.

Who was your inspiration/s? Im inspired by Artists like Eve, Missy Elliot, Nas, Aaliyah, Busta Rhymes and also close friends.

What would you be doing if you weren't a MC? if i werent MCing i'd be doing Graphic Animation Design because im very intrigued about the whole concept and how it works.

What do you think about the commercialisation of UK Garage? On a level i really dont feel there is anything wrong with being commercial, i think its about time people all over the world started knowing that there are alot of talented people within the garage scene whether they be singers or emcees and i think they deserve as much reconiztion as anybody else involved in the music scene. So standardly whoever goes commerical i wish them all the best.

What other sort of music are you into? I think of myself as an eclectic! I like and listen to RnB, slow jams, Garage, Bashment, DnB, Rap, reggae and soca basically a majority of different ranges.

Favourite Club/Venue? Hmmm not to sure yah know.....

FavouriteFavourite Garage Tune of all time? Rah theres nuff, but i did really love 'Nicoles Groove'

Favourite Garage Tune at the moment? Has to definately be 'Musical Mob' that tune is very deep, when it comes on im like Heyyyyyyy...... pardy over here.

Any advice for up and coming MCs? Yeah for sure, i'd say, Just because your situation doesn't seem to be progressing right now, doesn't mean you need to change a thing, all things come to those who wait, and if your put your all into it something definatley good will come out of it. In the music scene you have to really be patient, your time will come and if you want it bad you just have to continue trying your very best continue writing, practicing, and just stick with it.

Any Shout Outs? Big shouts out to 2step Garage, Keflon, Rawheed, My manger Gavin, Dreem team, Venom crew, my cousin Skarface, Antonik, Cold as Ice cru, all my brothers & sisters, mum dad and all my family.
