To
help you plan your holiday on the island
of Cyprus. We have compiled this official
UK Garage guide to the town of Ayia
Napa. A place that is fast becoming
the UK Garage Mecca. What was once a
small fishing village on the south east
coast of Cyprus has developed into a
haunt for garage and R'n'B music lovers
from the UK. Apart from the frantic
night life, Ayia Napa also has some
magnificent beaches. Stretches of shimmering
blue water and white soft sands. To
begin with we will start by taking you
there.. |

Travelling around Ayia Napa Cyprus
There are taxis available on the island
but these can be hard to find at times.
So if you want to get around the island
it may be practical to consider other modes
of transport. There are of course the customary
car hire companies, where you can hire a
wide variety of cars from Fiat seicentos
to Mitsubishi shoguns. The real brave hearts
get mopeds. These come with varying engine
sizes that allow you to toodle down the
road or scoot round the town between hotels,
bars, clubs, and beaches. However it is
important to be aware that our research
shows that the Cypriot language has no direct
translation for 'indication'. So the locals
tend to do their own thing on the roads.
The traffic laws are similar to those in
Europe and they also drive on the left hand
side of the road. But that is where the
similarities end. What we are trying to
say is be careful on the roads out there.
The road accidents records are high which
point to the low level of due care and attention
shown on the roads. The drivers out there
can stop unexpectedly for a chat with a
passing friend or swerve across to drive
down a road that you don't see. Be especially
careful on roundabouts because unless you
are telepathic there is no way for you to
know which way the car in front of you is
going to turn. And they are also liable
to pull over and have a chat on the roundabout.
It is essential to keep calm and maintain
a humorous outlook on the cultural difference
rather than to get hot under the collar
and get nicked. Don't expect the same level
of courtesy you get in London because as
was mentioned earlier the locals are just
doing their own thing and are not really
watching you.
