How
long have you been DJing? I
started DJing back in 1996
How
did you get started? Both my brother and
i were into Jungle / DnB... and my brothers birthday
was coming up. So he decided that he wanted to be a
DJ. So he was only allowed the cheapest ones for his
birthday, and he opted for a set of Soundlab DLP 1600s
& a DSM 5 mixer. And then his birthday came, he opened
up the boxes, but infact, there was only one Soundlab
DLP 1600 deck, the other was exactly the same, just
a different name...
anyway, he set em up, and played with em for a few weeks,
then got bored, packed em up, and put em in the Spare
room. One day, i got bored, and decided to read through
an old copy of Dj mag...and this got me back into the
feelin of being a Dj. So i headed for the spare room,
set em up, and played. Back then i thought i was the
god of Djing, and it wont be long before my millions
start to roll in...but i soon realised that my mixing
skills were lacking something... hmm, what was it...
oh yeah... SKILL!... anyways, i kept on practicing,
and i was still shite, but i kept at it cos i loved
it... and then the mixer started to wear out..
I got my first break at the end of 1998...at this stage,
i could mix properly, and i was handin out tapes while
i was at college, i gave a tape to my mate, Rob, who
passed it on to his mate, who was a Club Promoter...
one evenin when i got back from college, i got a phone
call from this club promoter, askin if we could meet
up, so i met him, and he told me about this club night
he had set, and he needed an extra DJ, and he wanted
to give me a go...which was cool...so i played out at
this club, there was about 100-150 people there, and
they enjoyed the night...and so did i...and that was
my first break!...
since
then, my DJin career has been pretty quiet, ive played
in a few clubs, and over the internet, courtesy of Kurly
D & www.uk-garage.co.uk...
Since
then, ive played at a few clubs and bars around my way.
Ive also done a few radio shows on Supreme 96.1 & 2G
Fm. But now im on the lookout for something a bit bigger!
