Hailed by
many as 'the best' UK Garage DJ around, EZ
at only 27 is still a youngster among many
underground heavyweights. His impressive climb
through the ranks started at 15 on pirate
radio and his talent and hard work have established
him as one of the most sought after DJs, playing
major clubs all over the UK and Europe and
presenting a weekly show on Kiss FM. His recent
mix compilation successes and subsequent remix
offers have opened doors to another ambition
in the shape of 'Z Productions'.
Growing up in North London EZ was influenced
by radio jocks like Tim Westwood and David
Rodigan. From playing school discos and
local house parties in '88 & '89, his
persistence in sending tapes to pirate radio
stations paid off in '89 with his first
radio appearance on Dance FM. In 1990, as
'DJ Easy O', he started a 4 year period
with Dance FM playing alongside Mr C and
Kenny Ken among others. His dynamic mixing
skills were then unleashed on Freak FM,
where he stayed again for 4 years and became,
undoubtedly the biggest DJ to come from
the Freak FM stable. In November 1999 a
major ambition was realised when he was
offered a show on Kiss FM. He now has a
firmly establish slot on Saturday's 7pm
- 9pm and, last year entered in the Kiss
100's top DJs of the year at no. 9.
Alongside his radio career, his popularity
as a club DJ has secured many accolades
from clubbers and industry alike. Winning
'Club DJ of the Year' at the '98 'Underground
Garage Awards', Best DJ at the Exposure
Valentines Awards in '99, 'Public's Best
DJ' and 'Industry Best DJ' at the 2000 UK
Garage Awards together with 2 placings in
DJ Magazine's ''Top 100 DJs in the World',
and being the only UK Garage DJ to be selected
as 'DJ of the Month' by Muzik Magazine.
Over the last few years his popularity
with the crowd and pioneering mixing style
has resulted in an ever-increasing schedule
of bookings all over the UK and Europe.
In February 2000 EZ mixed the first 'Pure
Garage' compilation for Warner Music, which
went to platinum and peaked at no. 2 in
the national compilation charts. Pure Garage
II, III IV and V have subsequently been
released.
His talents and production skills have
produced many offers for remixing work from
majors and independents alike. In 2000 EZ
formed 'Z Productions' and in 2001 set up
'Z Recordings'
Some of his awards include 'People's Favourite
DJ' at the UKG Awards 2001 and 'Best Urban/2
Step DJ at the 2001 Ibiza Awards at Pacha.
