So Mr. V if you don’t mind me calling
you… First and foremost how did the
name Vapour come about?
Verbally . Accurate . Purely . Original
. Urban . Rap
(where mans get blown away) hehehe
Ummmm I used to go under a different name
that I used as a DJ which obviously couldn’t
be used once I started MC’ing…..
so I had to change it…..
But while I have the chance there I would
like to say…..
“A RUMOUR HAS TRAVELLED VIRTUALLY
THE CIRCUMFRANCE OF THE WORLD AND BAK AS
A CHINESE WHISPER….. THAT I WAS GUN
THREATENED BY MC VIPER BECAUSE MY NAME WAS
TOO MUCH LIKE HIS?? HEHEHEHEHE THAT IS THE
BIGGEST LOAD OF SHIT IVE HEARD IN YEARS….
ME AND VIPER ARE SAFE…. SO BELIEVE
WHAT YOU LIKE, BUT NOT EVERYTHING YOU HEAR!!
LOL….
Who was your childhood inspiration to start
spitting?
UMMMMMM….DAMN…..ummmmmm…lol…
Ok….i always say…I never REEEEALLY
had any main inspirations…. Jus people
who could make me move from my seat….
And I jus knew what I liked……
and there were different people to each
different genre of music…. With Hip
Hop I was kinda late so the main man for
me really before hip hop was completely
commercial like it is nowadays was Busta
Rhymes….. I was buyin all those tape
packs from One Nation etc from around age
11 too so I was all up on the latest dance
scene…. Which changed al the time….
CAN YOU BELIEVE, ME OF ALL PEOPLE, USED
TO DISLIKE MC’S!! well, I mean, I
had all these tapes of MC GQ who was like
a Host more than a lyricist….then
suddenly I bought a desert storm pack wjich
had like 7 mc’s with a mic each….????????
A whole new meaning of mc was brought to
light…. And at first I was jus listenin
to Navigator thinking….” Don’t
he shut up”???….. then I started
pickin up on the lyrics……then
I was thinking “this is deep……
then I was dancing infront of mirrors…hahahaha…
I think that’s where Vapour was born…..
so yeh I’d say it was the ’94
– ’96 jungle Mc’s that
got me started…. And it’s the
crap from today which makes me wanna carry
on…hehehe…. And some will disagree
here but I think it’s the people who
came from drum n bass who are the best mc’s
today with garage and hip hop…. Coz
those who STARTED spittin to old skool garage
started with a bumpy cheesy style and are
still like it now….ummmm PSG, DT,
SPARKS etc…..
When is the release date on your album
and what artists will be appearing on it?
Damn!!….. ummmm…. im really
not allowed to say too much here….
With release dates etc because Mark Ryder
is ummm yeh im really not allowed to say
to much here…… lol
Featuring artists are looking heavy right
now…… hopefully ALL names you’ve
not heard of unless they are meant to be
famous because I wanna bring a whole new
rosta to the scene….
Manz Like:
YungBlud… Riddles….. Verbal
Kaos…. Public Offendaz….. Dub
Trouble (production)….. Rhymestein
(the worst of)…… Demolition
Man….. MCD…….
Nocturnal and Intense (hip hop) Stashia
and Nadia on Female Vocals….
Infact ive had a few girls approach me and
ask me if they can sing for me…. I
jus smile politely and say “go on
then”….lol….. they dunno
where to look!! There is too many names
I have to bring in on this project so you
can wait and see for the rest……
What stuff you got in line for the world
this year?
Bookings as far as Dallas Texas, this November…..and
im looking to go bak to Holland coz I had
a bashment there last time…. Simply
because I wasn’t arrested for blazin….ima
reach there again…
You’re stranded on a desert island,
if you could have 3 things with you…What
would it be?
Women, Food and Sunshine!!
On a deserted island who needs money….
In fact, good point, you don’t need
money so I’ll fit in better!! Send
me there!!
We heard at 2sg that after the success
of move your body, Mark Ryder raked in all
the money from what we believe was your
hard working writing skills that made that
song what it was and still is. What is your
opinion about that?My opinion would be….to
spell the word “opinion” correctly
nex time sparky hehehe
Um basically….. you say THE SUCCESS
OF MOVE YOUR BODY.
This is my point exactly.
Move ur Body was successful in pushin my
name out.
My decision was: Take it or leave it / all
or nothing / lots or nots…..
So which one would you take….. that
“SWAG” riddim did so much for
me i suppose i should really feel some love
for the lil peace of shit!!
What’s your main motivation for staying
in the scene today?Lots really…..
haters for one…. I think, if they
gun me, and I leave the scene, they are
only gonna gun me more, so id rather stay
and say stuff I know will get up they nose
.
Secondly….. my simple love for music.
Thirdly, if ive told my mum ive got no job
coz I wanna be famous and been outta work
this long then im not changing my mind now
coz she will end me. Hahaha, safe mum….
Can we call it quits at £86,000??
Hehehe
As most people no your in a crew called
UKT…Why? Why not just go solo, you
were big enough to?
OK S DEE IM GONNA FOCUS MORE ON THE POINT
OF YOU JUS SAYING I “WERE” BIG
ENUFF TO…… LOL…..
UKT is my Underground peoples….. the
peeps from the street who are in the same
boat as me…… whereas I have
strictly Underground to release the commercial
crap worldwide, everyone who knows me knows
that I will always stick to the street way…..
whenever im on radio 1 I will still be doing
pirates….. when im a millionaire I
will still be bussin Burger king….
Simple.
And these are my boys who know where im
comin from…. Where as I see Mark Ryder
as an entire company. This is not struggling.
Apparently you said Eksman was One of your
idols, if you mean Eksman the DNB MC...then
does that mean you originally start MC'n
Drum n bass and if so then why did you switch
to garage?Firstly Yes, you have the right
one, Eksman….. he was a BIG inspiration
to me….. he jus carried the same style
to drum and bass that I carry with my “urbanism”
today….. bouncy, quick, different,
cheeky, wise etc…..
When I said earlier about the learnin lyrics
from tape packs…once the price of
those things reached £20 then it was
a turn to the free recordings of pirate
radio
Hehehe….. I knew Every Eksman lyric…..bak
in the day….. since then…..
I have been on at least 5 flyers I can think
of right now where I was in the bigger arena
to him!! That’s a good thing for me
I guess….
Do you regard yourself as one of the greats?
Umm…. Honestly no, but I would like
other people to…..
Its all a matter of opinion really.
I think what makes me say no…is the
fact that my biggest followings are places
like western America and Melbourne Australia
etc….
So if im not that big in the UK working
with UK music then things cant be looking
toooooo good….the reason the other
countries like it is only coz its different….maybe…..
but I know they love me…hehehe
through the years you have been mc'ing
what can you recall on as the hardest time
to break through into the scene?
Ummmm….. right now.
Every next day is a next struggle.
Everyday someone else wants to “just
be” an mc.
